    I appreciate your dedication to researching this matter and coming to an honest conclusion. It's similar to the case of Italian Director Paolo Pasolini, who did have relations with two young boys (15 and 16 respectively). However, he was never prosecuted for PDF-ilia, as Italy's age of consent is 14. Even today, this fact is still very controversial, especially considering how it influenced his last film Salo:120 Days of Sodom.

    Recently I’ve been watching all the Humphrey Bogart classics with my family and they’re so appealing because the lead character is badass. His movies like Sierra Madre, In a Lonely Place, Sirocco, Casablanca and Maltese Falcon are infinitely rewatchable and have a main character you can actually look up to. And I agree, Peterson’s points are usually pretty spot on

    As a recovering alcoholic, I know that you're wrong about Nathan shouldn't be able to perform at a high level cognitively. This is usually because non-alcoholics have little or no idea what alcoholism is. For years I worked at a highly demanding highly stressful job and did extremely well, making promotions and money. And I drank like a fish in the evenings. What you are probably thinking about is the end stage, where all that abuse catches up with the drinker and they end up losing it all. But Nathan clearly wasn't there, not even close.

      Rob you hit the bull's eye. "The story that world needs to hear..." This is what I have been thinking about too: What is the most important problem in the world and what's my solution to it... This is probably the "best" place to start writing. Because you are aiming helping others, sooth people's problems... That way people may find a use in the movie and apply it in their lives.

    • @Mr.Goodkat
      @Mr.Goodkat День тому

      @@bonetomahawk565 A book is more well suited for such a thing. When you identify a problem, it's easier to flesh out why it's so bad and possible solutions in a book plus addressing rebuttals, with a movie you have to focus on all this other stuff which would get in the way and you can't go so in depth.

    • @collativelearning
      @collativelearning День тому

      @@Mr.Goodkat I think it can be done just as well in a book or film with pros and cons either way. Far more people are likely to watch a film than read a book because of the time and entertainment factor. A book is strictly limited to the verbal (unless you include pics), but a movie can communicate across multiple senses. Sometimes people are not consciously willing to consider a particular aspect of reality, but they will allow themselves to process it in the symbolic form of a fiction story (book or movie). And "The story that world needs to hear..." doesn't necessarily mean you're providing a solution. Merely drawing detailed attention to an an overlooked issue can be incredibly valuable because it prompts others to start seeking out solutions. And then there's the strong emotional engagement of a movie - useful for prompting empathy etc in a way words on a page can't do so easily.

    • @Mr.Goodkat
      @Mr.Goodkat День тому

      @@collativelearning Yes movies certainly have their pro's but if you do have a problem in society you wish to draw attention to and choose to do so through film you will need much more resources and money than you will if you choose a book, you may even need to assemble a small army and have to rely on so many other people to do a good job whereas with a book only one person needs to do a good job, with a film you have to have a good eye for so many different things from casting to cinematography to music to editing and not only be a good judgement for all these different things and be able to foresee how they'll work together later on but actually find others who are talented enough to pull it off and enough luck to get them too. There is also far more can go wrong during the making of process of a film than writing a book, with a book you don't need to scout for locations, acquire permission to film there, worry about weather and a million other things, acquiring rights for music, meeting a deadline and keeping below budget. I admit this isn't all movies you could do a smaller production like My Dinner With Andre to greatly reduce these cons however I'd say why not just make it a podcast then? you might as well at that point it'd save you all the effort and in this day and age people are probably more likely to listen to it than watch the film too, which will make your message reach more people. I agree with you that film does have big pro's but in order to fully recruit it's advantages you can't scale the production back too much otherwise you aren't utilising it's full potential which is all those different elements working together, if you scale them back too much to make the process easier it loses much of the pro's it has over other mediums but if you don't scale it back getting it made in the first place is so much harder. I think the easiest medium might be an article/blog it can be done fast, it's free and anybody it resonates with will find it much easier convincing other's to devote time to it than a book or movie, it can also be shared much faster with the click of a button, I think acquiring a large following doing something else first and then writing an article on the issue is an idea which could work. The comment you made about a movie bypassing people's defences is an advantage it might have but I feel a book could also sufficiently distract people with a compelling plot and achieve the same, as for movies having a strong emotional engagement which is useful for prompting empathy among other things and this not being as easy for words on a page, I would be inclined to agree until I realised I always hear people saying "the book was better" and things like "I cried more reading the book" in fact the "book was better" is a cliche phrase, people report a stronger emotional engagement with the book form when a story exists in both and often when asked they cite the length as the reason, it had more time to suck them in and engross them and they spend more time with the characters and therefore grow more attached to them and what happens to them hits harder, also I think all those senses which movies stimulate, actually are stimulated by a book because the reader is actually not seeing words on a page, they're seeing images in their mind often accompanied by their own "minds eye" cinematography, sometimes even music, many even populate the story with all their favourite actors in the roles so kind of like creating your own film. I agree it's harder to get the average person to read them than watch a movie though, sorry about the insanely long comment.

    This concept is older than the Film itself. It's explained in a similar way during Choomah Island II in The Big Lez Show, where Lez has his Awakening with Sassy. Figuring out it exists is the first step to becoming emancipated from Mental Slavery. However, I do believe that TBLS does it better, as it takes into account the fact Humans are spiritual beings. So, it presents the idea as more of a lifestyle change. 2001, on the other hand, frames it as a complex mathematical equation, which turns off most people from finding true consciousness. Even this video falls into 2001's frame, which I disagree with as the right approach to help people wake up.

    You can not justify the appalling bigotry in this movie by pretending it is about criticizing Turkish prisons. There is nothing wrong with criticizing Turkey's prison system, and by the way most Americans who served prison time in Turkey refused a deal that would have had them serve in the US instead because they were more afraid of the American prison system-it is much more violent. What is awful is how an entire nations is deliberately depicted as violent and bestial. Why? because some two bit experienced drug trafficker realized his white privilege didn't travel with him overseas, and (gasp), daddy couldn't bribe the Turkish judge to set his son free.

    2:24 - The “Indian burial ground” idea may not have been used by King in this novel, but it was used in his later novel “Pet Sematary.” In both novels and elsewhere, King plays with the idea that some places are supernaturally “sour.”
